Boeing 747-400 is a great improvement on Boeing 747-300, and it is an improved and extended range Boeing 747-300. In 1985, the B747-400 project was officially launched, and new electronic instruments and equipment were installed. The 747-300 simulated cockpit with three pilots was changed to a digital cockpit with two pilots. There was no need for Flight engineers.

The digital cockpit USES digital avionics meters and color multifunction displays, with six large CRT displays instead of the traditional instrument panel. The outer wing tip is 1.83 meters longer, and 1.83 meters high wingtip winglets are added to reduce drag, which can increase the range by 3% and reach 13,450 kilometers. The wingtip winglets are also an obvious difference in shape from the 300. The use of advanced aluminum alloy to reduce the total weight of the wings and landing gear 3.5 tons, additional tank in the horizontal stabilizer. A new engine was installed and the cabin interior was redesigned. The modified 747-400 has a longer range, higher fuel efficiency and lower noise and operating costs than previous 747 models. The 747-400 is available in passenger, passenger and cargo mix models and cargo models.

The Boeing 747-400 made its first flight on April 29, 1988, and was delivered to Northwest Airlines for service on February 9, 1989. It was the only Boeing 747 in production after May 1990. Until 2007, the production of the 400 passenger plane model has been suspended, and only the cargo plane model has been retained for production. By October 2007, 670 747-400 aircraft had been delivered.

KLM, founded on October 7, 1919, is the oldest airline in the world and still operates under the oldest name. The company ceased operations during World War II (except in the Caribbean in the Netherlands Antilles). The first KLM flight came from London Croydon Airport on May 17, 1920, with two British journalists and carrying newspapers. KLM carried a total of 440 passengers and 22 tons of cargo in 1920. KLM began regular service in 1921. 1926 Offered flights to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, Paris, London, Bremen, Copenhagen and Malmo, using the Fokker F2.
Intercontinental flight service began in 1929, reaching Dutch East India (now the Republic of Indonesia). It is the longest scheduled route in the world for several years, using the Fokk-7B. KLM carried 15,143 passengers in 1930. The first transatlantic service opened in December 1934, flying to and from Curacao from Amsterdam using a Fokker F-18, and KLM was the only civil airline in the 1940s to own the DC-5.
With reference to May 21, 1946, KLM was the first European airline to operate regular flights to and from New York. In 1950, KLM carried 356,069 passengers. On July 25, 1957, the company introduced its first flight simulator, which trained dC-7C pilots. On November 1, 1958, KLM even launched the first transpolar route from Amsterdam to Tokyo via Anchorage.
A KLM Boeing 737 was delivered in March 1960, and KLM purchased its first DC-8. In 1966, KLM used the DC-9 to fly over Europe and the Middle East. In 1968, the DC-8-63 entered service. KLM entered the era of wide-body airliners in 1971 when it began using the 747.
In 1980, KLM carried 9715,069 passengers. In 1983, it reached an agreement with Boeing to replace some of its 747-200 planes to extend the upper cabin. The work began at Boeing's Everett and Washington plants in 1984 and was completed in 1986. The modified aircraft was known as the Boeing 747-200SUD, and KLM also operated the Boeing 747-300 at the time. In June 1989, KLM began using the Boeing 747-400. In July of that year, KLM took a 20 percent stake in Northwest Airlines, initiating an alliance between the two countries. In 1990, KLM carried 16 million passengers. In March 1994, KLM and Northwest Airlines launched a joint business class program on intercontinental routes. In July 1995, KLM began using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
In June 2002, KLM announced the replacement of Boeing 767 and Boeing 747-300 intercontinental routes with McDonnell Douglas MD-11 and Boeing 777-200ER and Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Most Boeing 747s will be retired first to be replaced by MD-11 airliners. KLM delivered its first Boeing 777 on 25 October 2003 to serve the Amsterdam to Toronto route, while the first Airbus A330-200 was delivered on 25 August 2005 to serve the Amsterdam to Washington Dulles route.
