Name: Master Padmasambhava (Master Padma)
"Padmasambhava", also known as "Lotus-born Master", is the founding patriarch of the Tibetan Esoteric Buddhist school, the Nyingma (also known as the "Red School"). His Sanskrit name is "Padmasambhava", which is pronounced "Padma Sa-wa-ra" in Tibetan. His Tibetan name is "Bodhisattva White Horse" and he is also known as "The Great Master of U-rgyan". He was born in U-rgyan, India in the 8th century and later became a monk, studying the lineage of the Indian Esoteric Buddhist school, the "Indrabhuti". He was a renowned Esoteric Buddhist master and a skilled demon-queller, known for his "miracles" and "spells". He is considered the founding patriarch of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Esoteric Buddhism. In Tibetan Buddhism, he is revered as the "Precious Master of the Track" (Lopon Rinpoche), the "Precious Master of the Ancient" (Guru Rinpoche), and the "Precious Master of U-rgyan" (Urgyen Rinpoche). He is commonly known as "Bodhisattva White Horse" (Berme Khyenpa).
