High-voltage electrostatic precipitator is a device that uses electrostatic purification to collect dust in flue gas. It is an ideal equipment for purifying industrial waste gas. The Working Principle of High-Voltage Electrostatic Precipitator
The working principle of a high-voltage electrostatic precipitator mainly relies on the ionization of flue gas by a high-voltage electric field. Dust in the air stream acquires negative charges under the influence of the electric field and is then drawn towards the anode plates or the dust-removal electrodes. Specifically, an electrostatic precipitator is primarily composed of two parts: the electrode for emission and the electrode for dust collection. The electrode for emission is typically made up of metal wires with different cross-section shapes, while the electrode for dust collection is composed of metal plates with various geometric shapes. When a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power supply is applied between the two poles, a large number of positive and negative ions are generated in the space between the electrodes, which are then adsorbed by the dust particles in the air flow. Under the influence of the electric force, the dust particles with negative charges move towards the anode, and upon reaching the anode, they release electrons, depositing on the anode plates to form purified gas. Additionally, the performance of an electrostatic precipitator is also affected by factors such as the properties of the dust, the structure of the equipment, and the velocity of the flue gas flow. If the dust has a resistance below a certain value, the dust particles may be difficult to retain on the electrode for dust collection; conversely, if the specific resistance is too high, the dust particles reaching the electrode for dust collection may have difficulty in releasing their charges, which could potentially reduce the efficiency of dust removal.
