Gaocheng-style lanterns

Gangcheng lanterns are also known as palace lanterns.

The Gaocheng Palace Lanterns, a craft product, are mainly made of hand-crafted materials including steel wire for the frame, plastic molded upper and lower seats, and hollow iron rods for support. The colorful fabrics are the main raw materials.

1. Insert the special steel wire into the multiple small holes of the upper and lower plastic seats, and the skeleton begins to take shape.
2. Insert the two iron rods into the two large holes of the upper and lower plastic seats of the newly made skeleton, and after the size is suitable, use the air nail gun to fix the end of one iron rod to the plastic seat, and the skeleton is completed.

3. Cut the fabric into similar long elliptical pieces, embroidery, gold-stamping, or color printing symbols of good luck and happiness on the pieces, and then sew the edges of several pieces together with a sewing machine, and the lantern cover is completed.

4. Insert the lantern cover into the frame, then press the frame down. You should hear a 'click' sound, indicating that the lamp base has been locked by the iron pins of the iron rod. Align all the steel wires at the same distance, and the palace lantern has now taken its initial shape.

6. After the gold bars are dried, they are then surrounded with golden phoenix patterns (locally known as 'yunzi') on the top and bottom seats of the lantern, and then dried.

7. After the lantern dries, use pliers to press the iron pin on the lantern pole, and the lantern will close. Then wrap a circle of gold tape at the junction of the lamp base and the lantern cover, and the lantern is completed.

8. The finished lantern can be directly glued with yellow braids on the lower stand to form a relatively complete imperial lantern.
