Instructions for Using the Highest and Lowest Temperature Meters

1. Scope of Application:

The highest and lowest temperature gauges are used to record the highest and lowest temperatures in the air over a specified period of time.

2. Performance:

Inside the capillary holes on the left and right sides of the temperature tube, there is one blue indicator mark each. When the temperature changes, the indicator marks rise due to the movement of the mercury column, thereby indicating the highest or lowest temperature. The temperature indicated by the indicator needle on the right side represents the highest temperature, while that indicated by the one on the left side represents the lowest temperature.

3. Usage instructions:

First, vertically press the button on this meter, lower the two blue indicators inside the capillary until they reach the mercury column, then place it in a place where air circulates. Observe the temperature and time, and make decisions as needed. During observation, record the position of the needle tip and the temperature. The highest and lowest temperatures for that day can be observed.

4. Maintenance precautions:

When used, transported, or stored, it must be placed vertically. Do not use it during an earthquake to prevent the separation of the mercury column—three common phenomena of mercury column separation and overlap. Also, ensure that fingers do not touch the glass tube, which may cause the fasteners to loosen and affect temperature accuracy.

Additional Notes:

If you do not move it regularly, it is just an ordinary thermometer, with equal temperatures on both sides. If you want to measure the highest and lowest temperatures from 9 a.m. today to 9 a.m. tomorrow, you need to press the button in the middle so that the two blue columns on the left and right and the mercury column come together. Then, at 9 a.m. tomorrow, you can see what the highest and lowest temperatures were during that period. The highest temperature is on the right, and the lowest on the left; you should observe through the blue column below. If you want to measure again, simply press the middle button once more, and it will reset. You can observe for four hours, eight hours, or 24 hours.
