On the morning of July 10, the launching ceremony of Geely's DHT Hybrid Transmission Project and the ceremony for the first engine coming off the production line from Geely Power Train GEP3 Factory in Yiwu was held in the Green Power Town of Yiwu Economic Development Zone.

    The project is expected to bring advanced manufacturing technology and help Yiwu gather scientific and technological talents. It will have a positive impact on the development of the equipment industry, the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure, and the agglomeration of the new energy automobile industry in Yiwu. It will also become a new growth driver of the Green Power Town.

    Lin Yi, member of the Standing Committee of the Yiwu Municipal Party Committee and secretary of the Yiwu Municipal Party Committee, announced the launch of Geely's DHT Hybrid Transmission Project and jointly inaugurated the first engine with Li Shufu, chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Chairman. Geely's leaders, Yu Xueliang and Wang Ruiping, and local leaders, Chen Xiuxian, Ge Guoqing, Chen Xiaozhong, and Jia Wenhong, attended the ceremony.

    Li Shufu said in his speech that Geely's people, through their hard work and wisdom, have promoted technological progress and improved product competitiveness, and the first engine rolling off the production line from the GEP3 Factory is the best example. He believes that, with the joint efforts of Yiwu and Geely, the Green Power Town has a promising future, and that Geely's power train research will promote the development of automotive power technology. Geely will contribute more to the economic and social development of Yiwu and the development of manufacturing industry in Zhejiang Province and the whole country.

    In his speech, Lin Yi mentioned that Yiwu will improve government services and source allocation to build the Green Power Town into an innovative, advanced, and standardized base so that the Geely's employees can have a better working and living environment.

    Geely's automatic transmission project mainly produces DHT hybrid transmission products. The project covers an area of 322,000 m², where a smart factory of hybrid transmission will be built. The factory contains workshops of parts made on site, such as shafts, gears, shells, valve bodies, transmission assembly workshops, and transmission test workshops. The factory is planned to be put into operation in March 2022.

    GEP3 engines include the models Base, MHEV, and PHEV, and more. They are truly energy-saving and environmentally friendly engines, meeting Euro 6/VI vehicle emission standards with internationally leading technical indicators. They are being applied to many of Geely's new car models and are Geely's main engine models at present. They have a good user base and broad market prospects.

    Four projects have been successively started in Yiwu for Geely's power system: Zhejiang Fengrui Engine Co., Ltd.; Zhejiang Yili Auto Parts Co., Ltd.; Yiwu Geely Engine Co., Ltd.; and Yiwu Geely Automatic Transmission Co., Ltd. The projects mainly produce Geely's most popular engines, which have won the title of “Top Ten Engines in China,” and internationally advanced automatic transmission products. These products will be applied in Geely's best-selling models. In the future, 70% of Geely's power train products will be manufactured in Yiwu. Yiwu has become a strong driver for the rapid development of Geely's automobiles.
