On October 19, during the 6th World Internet Conference, the Yiwu government and one of the world's top 500 enterprises, SAP (China) Corporate, officially signed a contract to develop Yiwu Innovation Center together. The settlement with one of the world's top three software suppliers in Zhejiang will provide new opportunities for Yiwu to promote industrial digital transformation.
SAP is a world-renowned software provider, committed to providing an integrated ERP system of logistics, talent, finance, and information to help enterprises achieve digital transformation. In early 2019, SAP started a five-year plan in China, which started off by selecting some regions across the country to set up a number of collaborative innovation centers and promote online products that are more suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises with lower costs.
The SAP Yiwu Innovation Center plans mainly focus on creating a smart digitization and reforming platform, a big data analysis platform, a training and education platform, a project development platform and other related projects. It will assist traditional businesses in Yiwu reform and innovate as well as further contribute to industrial transformation and upgrading in Zhejiang.
The cooperation will help enhance Yiwu's visibility and influence in the digital economy, and most importantly expand digital economy services in Yiwu. Yiwu's digital economy is among the best in the province, but the digital economy service industry needs improving. Experienced digital economy service enterprises, like SAP, will play a positive role in the development of the digital economy services industry.
In recent years, Yiwu has begun working hard on its digital economy. Yiwu's digital economy index has reached 105.3 and ranks sixth in the Zhejiang Province. In the first half of this year, Yiwu's digital economy core manufacturing output value reached 3.86 billion RMB, 1.1 bn more than last year and with a growth rate of 61.7%, far higher than the average in the province.
