On March 4, the feasibility study report of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway was publicized. This new railway will link up with the Jinhua-Ningbo Railway, which is under construction. After the completion of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway, the railways of Jinhua and Yiwu will reach the Zhoushan Islands. At that time, the Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan Corridor will be fully completed. The Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan Corridor is one of the important strategic platforms planned and constructed by Zhejiang Province during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. It connects Zhoushan Port of Ningbo and the Land Port of Yiwu. It is also an economic corridor linking Ningbo Metropolitan Area with Jinyi Urban District. It is significant in connecting Jinhua to the Yangtze River Economic Belt in the west and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta in the north. It also facilitates Jinhua playing a part in the Belt and Road Initiative and being a “global buyer and global seller.” The Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway is 77 kilometers long, with a total investment of 27 billion RMB, an average cost of 350 million RMB per kilometer. The construction will take six years total. (By Xu Chaohui – Jinhua Daily, translated by Jin Haiqiong, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
