A cross-border e-commerce bonded warehouse of Douyin, a popular short-video platform, was launched at the Yiwu Comprehensive Bonded Area on Sept 26.
The rapid development of livestreams in recent years has driven cross-border e-commerce sales through Douyin. Over 20 million orders with sales exceeding 4 billion yuan ($555.72 million) have been made in the first half of this year, about seven times the volume of the same period last year.
The launch of Douyin's warehouse delighted many directors of enterprises engaged in cross-border e-commerce at the Yiwu Comprehensive Bonded Area.
According to a representative, goods they sold via Douyin were previously required to be sent to certified warehouses in Zhengzhou, Qingdao or Ningbo, which involved high costs and complex procedures. With the new warehouse, goods from Yiwu can be delivered directly after completing a tax declaration and customs clearance.
In addition, the new warehouse is expected to attract companies working on cross-border e-commerce through Douyin, as quality overseas products can be sent to the warehouse more easily.
The Yiwu Comprehensive Bonded Area has attracted many global shopping platforms such as Tmall, Kuaishou, and Pinduoduo, greatly contributing to its development of cross-border e-commerce.
