Construction started on the new production base of Zhejiang Chuanghao Semiconductor Co in Yiwu, East China's Zhejiang province, on Jan 9.
With a total investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.48 billion), it is the project with the most investment in Yiwu's high-end chip and intelligent terminal industry. The base is expected to produce 450,000 high-end packaging substrates annually.
The production base will cover about 180 mu (12 hectares) and be constructed in three phases. The company will spend 2.4 billion yuan building the first phase.
The first phase, covering about 80 mu, will begin producing FCCSP substrates and BT-made FCBGA substrates in 2024. It is expected to increase the annual output value of the company by 1 billion yuan.
The base will also provide precision circuit IC substrate production and testing for domestic and foreign 3C (computer, consumer electronics, and communication) product and electric vehicle product manufacturers, which will lay a solid foundation for the development of Yiwu's semiconductor industry.
Zhejiang Chuanghao Semiconductor Co's technical team began engaging in substrate-related research and development and manufacturing in the 1990s. The company is committed to becoming a leading domestic manufacturer of high-end flip-chip packaging substrates.
In recent years, Yiwu has established a number of industrial funds with a total scale of over 10 billion yuan around the chip semiconductor and intelligent terminal industries, and has attracted nearly 20 projects in the semiconductor industry with investment totaling nearly 30 billion yuan.
