The Yiwu Sports and Leisure Goods Expo 2024 commenced on June 14, during a year rich with international sporting events like the Paris Olympics and the European Championship.
The three-day expo, held at the International Expo Center, is set to capitalize on the burgeoning opportunities in the sports goods industry.
The expo boasted 20,000 square meters of exhibition space, with over 500 participating companies and nearly 800 international standard booths. The event has attracted over 8,000 pre-registered buyers, signaling strong interest and potential for business deals.
Local businesses are eager to connect with buyers through the expo. Wen Congjian, general manager of Yiwu Danasi Import and Export Co Ltd, was among the early birds, hoping to replicate his success from the 135th Canton Fair. The expo also served as a platform for showcasing new products, as demonstrated by Yiwu Aokay Sports Goods Co Ltd, whose football-related products have drawn significant attention.
The expo reflects Yiwu's status as a global hub for small commodities, with hundreds of shops in the Yiwu International Trade Market alone dedicated to sporting goods. Yiwu's exports of sporting goods and equipment saw a 45.6-percent increase in the first four months of the year, indicating a healthy demand.
