With the rapid development of drone technology, its application fields have become increasingly diverse, ushering in unprecedented development opportunities for the low-altitude economy. Maneuvers such as flying around obstacles, flying in figure-eight patterns, and suspended 360-degree rotations... In the afternoon of March 6th, on the playground of Yiwu Industrial & Commercial Vocational and Technical College, a group of students were trying out various drone flying skills under the guidance of their coach.
Today, drones are being increasingly utilized in various fields such as military operations, aerial photography, agriculture, rescue missions, logistics, and more, leading to a growing demand for professionals in this area. In 2024, the "low-altitude economy" was included in the government work report for the first time and elevated to a strategic development priority. Zhejiang Province and Jinhua City have successively issued guidance opinions and implementation plans to fully develop the highland of the low-altitude economy. To ensure flight safety and regulate drone operations, the State Council and the Central Military Commission announced the "Provisional Regulations on the Flight Management of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles," which officially came into effect on January 1, 2024. "Currently, Yiwu Industrial & Commercial Vocational and Technical College is the only institution in the city offering drone-related training. Citizens aged 16 and above can pre-register by scanning the QR code on the public account of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and they can start learning immediately after registration," said Wu Huajun, Dean and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Yiwu Industrial & Commercial Vocational and Technical College. The drone course training is divided into theoretical and practical parts, with the first batch of trainees starting training in July 2024. Initially, only one class was planned when the course began, but surprisingly, the course was very popular and was quickly expanded to two classes the following year.
It is reported that the launch of drone course training aims to cultivate high-quality technical talents with skills in drone operation, maintenance, and data processing, providing talent support for the development of the regional low-altitude economy. "The training covers various categories, including CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) drone pilot licenses for small multi-rotor drones within visual line of sight (VLOS), small multi-rotor drones beyond VLOS, medium multi-rotor drones within VLOS, and medium multi-rotor drones beyond VLOS, as well as CAAC drone instructor certifications for small and medium drones. The pass rate for the training is over 90%," said Wu Huajun. In addition, the college has integrated the current status of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, optimizing and adjusting courses such as urban management technology and surveying and mapping. In the future, the college will also introduce industry experts to enhance the teaching staff, promote precise alignment between vocational qualification certification and employment, help trainees smoothly enter the industry, cultivate more low-altitude application talents for Yiwu, and promote the vigorous development of the low-altitude economy.
