On June 21, the 2025 Digital Trade Ecosystem Innovation and Development Conference, jointly hosted by the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce and the Yiwu Municipal People's Government, and organized by the Consumer Electronics Service Professional Committee and the E-commerce Professional Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce, was successfully held at the Yiwu International Expo Center Hotel. As a key supporting forum of the Zhejiang International E-commerce Expo, the conference, themed "Intelligence Driving the Future, Connecting the Globe - AI Empowering New Paradigms in the Digital Trade Ecosystem", brought together over 300 industry leaders from government agencies, academic organizations, cross-border e-commerce platforms, international logistics enterprises, and renowned manufacturing representatives. They gathered to discuss how cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain are reshaping global trade rules and building a new, efficient, intelligent, and trustworthy digital trade ecosystem.
Peng Lihui, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce, pointed out in his speech that Yiwu, as a frontier of China's opening up, has witnessed the journey of digital trade from scratch, from weakness to strength. In 2024, Yiwu's foreign trade volume exceeded 560 billion yuan, with e-commerce contributing 490 billion yuan and cross-border e-commerce accounting for over 140 billion yuan. The growth rate in the first five months of this year exceeded 23%. He emphasized that the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce would actively leverage its platform role to promote the development of the digital trade industry ecosystem. Meanwhile, he called for an open and inclusive principle in formulating international rules to address global regulatory challenges such as the U.S. tariff policies and South Korea's "Platform Fair Competition Promotion Act" and "Fair Trade in Online Platform Intermediary Transactions Act," advocating for the establishment of a new trade order that "balances innovation vitality with effective regulation."
Xie Jianhua, President of the US-China E-commerce Trade Association, stated in his address that the essence of AI empowering digital trade lies in the reconstruction of the entire "people-goods-market" chain, and Yiwu is writing a new chapter in the dual circulation strategy with AI as its brush. He proposed that Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations should be based on value symbiosis, and that both sides could jointly explore digital trade rules within the framework of WTO reform. Taking the upcoming establishment of the "Borderless Trade Promotion Association" as an example, he elaborated on the vision of constructing a global digital overpass for trade.
