On the morning of March 25, the online 8th Zhejiang Beauty Expo was officially launched at District 3 of Yiwu International Trade City. The online Beauty Expo will last from March 25 to June 15, with a virtual exhibition area of 4000 m2. More than 570 companies from over 20 provinces and cities have been invited. The offline Beauty Expo is planned to be held at Yiwu International Expo Center from June 16 to 18. According to Tu Ruming, executive chairman of the Expo, the keywords of the online Expo are “innovative exhibition services” and “online preview.” The mobile Internet, live broadcasting, and digital technology have extended the exhibition from offline to online, and people now can visit the
Expo via their mobile phones.
The spring session of the Yiwu Picture Frame Exhibition was the first online exhibition in Yiwu and the first one in all of China. The Exhibition is from March 20 to May 10, covering a virtual exhibition area of 20,000 m2. It has 800 international standard booths and has invited over 400 domestic and international exhibitors. Within three days after the Exhibition was launched, the cumulative number of online visitors exceeded 127,000, indicating that purchasers are in favor of such online exhibition models.
Yiwu planned to hold nine exhibitions in March and April, but had to postpone all of them due to the pandemic. In addition to the online Picture Frame Exhibition and Beauty Expos, Yiwu will also arrange other online exhibitions such as the hardware exhibition. According to Yiwu China Commodities City Exhibition Co., Ltd., the online exhibition of the 2020 China Yiwu Hardware & Electrical Appliances Trade Fair is expected to start on April 20.
COVID-19 has caused the cancellation and postponement of many exhibitions, challenging exhibition companies, and the transformation and upgrading of the industry have become imperative. Online exhibitions maximize the advantages and innovative value of digital technology. They also digitalize some functions of traditional offline exhibitions, such as exhibits’ displays, price quotes and inquiries, social communication, and business matching. It is very convenient for purchasers to visit exhibitions and place orders without leaving home.
Insiders of Yiwu’s exhibition industry believe that with the coming of the 5G era, the era of digital exhibitions will also accelerate its pace. Digital exhibitions will take the Internet as their basis, with big data, Cloud computing, and artificial intelligence as their core, virtual reality and augmented reality as their display forms, and e-commerce as their trading channel.
