At around 1:00 p.m. on August 16th, a flight from Guangzhou landed slowly at Yiwu Airport. Reporters learned that one-third of the passengers disembarking from this flight were foreign nationals, among whom many were visiting Yiwu for the first time and planned to enjoy a good shopping spree in this "World Supermarket."
As the world's largest distribution center for small commodities, Yiwu has been attracting a growing number of global buyers to seek business opportunities here in recent years. With the continuous expansion of China's visa-free "circle of friends" and the increasing convenience of entry, more foreigners have flocked to Yiwu this summer. Combining business with shopping has become the most distinctive feature of inbound tourism in Yiwu.
On August 18th, reporters learned from Yiwu Airport that the number of foreign passengers has seen an explosive growth during this summer vacation. Taking the Yiwu-Guangzhou route as an example, the number of foreign passengers traveling round-trip on this route was less than 10,000 in July last year, while it reached 25,700 in July this year, representing an increase of over 260%.
