On February 18, Districts 1 and 2 of the Yiwu International Trade City took the lead in resuming work. Making full use of the “one map, one code, one index” system1 and taking the experience of China International Import Expo as a guide,Yiwu developed a series of standardized prevention and control measures for the market to achieve normalized epidemic prevention. Currently, the markets in Districts 1 and 2 of the International Trade City are running smoothly and safely.
On the basis of the standardized and normalized market epidemic prevention, Districts 3, 4, and 5 of the Yiwu International Trade City, as well as the importer-cultivating district of the Yiwu Imported Commodities Mall all resumed work. To date, more than 80,000 business operators and domestic and international purchasers have passed relevant health checks. Moreover, during the market break, many business operators have received quite a few orders online, and they are anxious to show samples and deliver goods to customers when the market opens. In addition, the page views of the international platform of Yiwugo—the official website of the Yiwu Small Commodities Wholesale Market—increased by 50% compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Yiwu continues to work on ensuring the operation of industrial chains related to the market and safeguarding supporting services, such as catering and accommodation, foreign trade, logistics, customs clearance, and financial services, aiming to comprehensively promote the recovery of industries and the city. Yiwu also organized a special group of cadres to help workers go back to wok—30 working groups have gone to Hunan, Anhui, Jiangxi, and Yunnan to help migrant workers return to Yiwu. To date, 70% of foreign trade entities and 98% of key foreign trade companies in Yiwu have resumed work, and all 35 e-commerce parks in Yiwu have opened. In addition, all the logistics latforms and postal and express companies in Yiwu have returned to normal work. Yiwu Port, railway ports, bonded logistics centers, international mail exchange bureaus, and Yiwu-Europe China Railway Express have also resumed normal operations.
In terms of policies of assisting enterprises, Yiwu is committed to optimizing its business environment. On February 22, the Yiwu Municipal Party Committee and the Yiwu government released favored policies for thousands of domestic and international purchasers in Yiwu—“Several Opinions on Strengthening the Construction of the Team of Purchasers (Trial),which includes 17 measures in three major areas: government services, business services, and public services. In addition to the aforementioned policies, the Yiwu government recently introduced more incentives like flight subsidies, charter buses and planes, and free accommodation to attract domestic and international purchasers. Providing these extras, more preferential policies, and better services, Yiwu aims to cultivate and agglomerate high-quality purchasers to accelerate Yiwu’s transition to the sixth generation of the small-commodity market, to create a model city with a world-class business environment, and to build an international model city featuring “World’s Small Commodities Capital.” (By Wu Fengyu, translated by Shen Yingying, edited by Mariam Ayad)
