According to the construction and management center of Jinhua’s comprehensive transportation hub, the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission officially approved the preliminary design of the Hangzhou-Yiwu Section of the second phase of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway on July 7.
The Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway is one of the key projects in the national medium- and long-term railway network planning. It is the first high-speed railway in China to adopt the public-private partnership (PPP) model and carry out mixed-ownership reform. After the completion of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway, all the counties in Jinhua will have access to high-speed railways. In terms of the Yangtze River Delta railway network, the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway will help to complete the national high-speed railway transportation network and effectively improve the regional high-speed railway network.
As a supporting project for Zhejiang Province’s construction of a one-hour traffic circle, the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway will become the most convenient and fastest passenger transport channel from Hangzhou to Wenzhou through Yiwu. This channel is of great significance to meeting the demand of traffic growth along the route, accelerating the development of tourism resources, and promoting social and economic development.
The construction of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway is divided into two phases: the construction of the first phase of the Yiwu-Wenzhou Section began in 2019, and the approved Hangzhou-Yiwu Section is the second phase of the project. The total length of the Hangzhou-Yiwu Section will be about 59 km, and the total investment is estimated to be about 9.48 billion RMB.
