On the morning of October 20th, wisps of smoke rose from the new plant area of Suoyiren Brown Sugar Factory in Yiting Town, Yiwu City. The sugar makers were busy and orderly boiling sugar around eight "row pots." With the increasing concentration of the sugar syrup and its eventual cooling, pieces of mouthwatering brown sugar were produced amidst the sweet aroma. The sweet start of sugar production at Suoyiren Brown Sugar Factory signaled the official beginning of the sugar cane pressing season in Yiting Town, the "hometown of brown sugar," for this year.
Ding Guorong, from Suoyiren Brown Sugar Factory, introduced that this year, the sugar mill has further expanded the scale of sugarcane planting to 160 acres, with an expected sugar production exceeding 120 tons. "On the first day of sugar cane pressing, we estimate a sugar output of around 600 kilograms; after the beginning of winter, production will peak, and the daily sugar output will exceed 1,200 kilograms," he said. The sugar cane pressing work will last for about three months, and this sweetness will continue until after New Year's Day next year.
