In recent years, riding on the strong momentum of the rapid development of new and high-quality productive forces, Yiwu City has been making all-out efforts to accelerate the development of the new energy vehicle and its parts and components industry. Statistics show that throughout last year, this industry achieved a year-on-year growth of 60%, and in the first quarter of this year, it maintained a steady growth rate of 10.6%. Recently, the reporter explored the current development status of the new energy vehicle industry in Yiwu City from three aspects: intelligent manufacturing, industrial chain clustering, and existing weaknesses.
Walking into the Lynk & Co Automobile Factory in Yiwu, new models of cars undergoing testing - the Lynk & Co 900 - can be seen everywhere on the roads. Xiao Li, a native of Yiwu, is one of the testers. His recent job is to be responsible for the performance testing of this vehicle.
"Hello, Lynk & Co! Turn on the seat massage and play some music." After the reporter got into the car, Xiao Li skillfully issued the commands and operated the intelligent system in the car. Then, according to the established route, he carried out tests for scenarios and road conditions such as steep slopes, figure-eight roads, and highways.
"After a new vehicle model is produced, it generally needs to go through repeated tests for 8 to 10 months before it is launched on the market and made available to users," Xiao Li told the reporter. Nowadays, with the vigorous development of the new energy vehicle market, consumers' demands for vehicle functions are becoming increasingly diversified, which also makes his testing work more complex and meticulous.
In the workshop of this factory, the reporter witnessed a sci-fi-like automated production scene: In the welding workshop, large robotic arms work in coordination, swinging flexibly and accurately completing key tasks such as vehicle body welding and component assembly; In the final assembly workshop, from large components like the transmission, powertrain, and seats to small items such as door frame seals and various bolts, there are more than 2,000 types of components. Regardless of their size, they can all accurately reach their designated positions through different conveying channels... Thanks to the empowerment of digital intelligence, the speed of logistics distribution and the overall production efficiency have been significantly improved.
"These newly added scenarios and intelligent production lines are the result of the competition and continuous innovation among new energy vehicle enterprises," the person in charge of the Lynk & Co Automobile Factory in Yiwu explained to the reporter. They are well aware that consumers' demands are the natural "baton" and vane of the market. New scenarios and functions not only continuously bring new experiences to consumers but also win broader market space for the enterprises. They clearly understand that continuously investing time and cost to improve users' travel experience is a worthwhile endeavor.
Currently, this factory produces a total of three vehicle models, namely the TX barrier-free travel vehicle, the LEVC L380 large MPV, and the Lynk & Co 900 full-size SUV. The staff revealed that after the successful launch of the L380 last year, it received a good response in the market, contributing an increase of 1 billion yuan to Yiwu's industrial output value in the first quarter of 2025. With the launch of the Lynk & Co 900, it is expected that the production and sales volume will further increase and break through, making a contribution to Yiwu's economic development.
