Progress is being made on the construction of the Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center on a daily basis, and changes are evident every month.
At the intersection of Yinhai Road and Chunfeng Avenue in Yiwu, a "colossal" project known as the Global Digital Trade Center, spanning 562 mu (approximately 37.47 hectares) with a construction area exceeding 1.25 million square meters and a total investment of over 8.3 billion yuan, is beginning to take shape. It stands in harmonious dialogue with the Phase 5 Market of the Yiwu International Trade City, just across the road, as the new and old markets once again complete a relay amidst the tides of the times.
On May 7th, the reporter once again visited the construction site of the Global Digital Trade Center project. Compared to the first interview in early March, after more than 60 days of intensive construction, the project has achieved remarkable progress: 92% of the total work volume for the market section has been completed, approximately 75% for the commercial booth setup, about 73% for the commercial street section, and 40% for the Digital Brain section. These impressive figures not only testify to the "accelerated pace" of the project's construction but also herald that this landmark building is steadily advancing towards its final completion.
Putting on a safety helmet, the reporter followed the project leader of the Global Digital Trade Center from Yiwu Market Group to the construction site. The rhythmic "tut-tut" sound of engines approached from afar, like a series of urgent drumbeats urging everyone forward. Inside the cabin of an orange excavator, Master Wang skillfully manipulated the control levers, leveling the mounded debris. Landscape plantings, glass curtain walls, aluminum panels for the market's exterior facade, and the roof curtain wall glass for the Digital Brain were being constructed in parallel. Boom lifts and aerial work platforms, like steel giants, steadily supported the construction workers, assisting them in focusing on the meticulous construction of the exterior facades of the Digital Brain and market sections. Excavators and dump trucks worked in tandem, one extracting and the other transporting, their movements smooth and natural, dancing a duet of power and efficiency on the construction site. Steel fixers, formworkers, and concrete workers each performed their duties... Not far away, huge billboards reading "New Landmark for Global Trade Flow" and "Grand Opening of the Global Digital Trade Center on October 21st" stood out prominently.
"Progress is made every day, and changes are evident every month." Mentioning the project's progress, the project leader of the Global Digital Trade Center from Yiwu Market Group was brimming with pride, introducing the project's situation as if recounting treasures. On the peripheral landscape plots, trucks loaded with landscape plantings slowly drove in, resembling arks carrying green hopes. Workers, transformed into skilled gardeners, carefully lifted the saplings and steadily planted them in the pre-dug pits. On the market's exterior facade, the aluminum panel curtain wall was nearly completed, with the silver-gray metal panels adorning the building like a shining "armor." Glass installation was also steadily progressing, with 50% already completed, and sightseeing elevators were being installed and调试 (adjusted and tested) simultaneously. As we spoke, we followed the temporary access road on the construction site into the core area of the project—the interior of the market, where even more exciting changes were brewing. As the main engine of the project, the market section spans a construction area of 410,000 square meters and features over 5,000 commercial booths.
"The steel frame construction for the market shops has been fully completed, with the installation of lintels and glass proceeding in an orderly manner, and the main passageways in the public areas are being tiled," the project leader said. The standard booth area at the Global Digital Trade Center reaches 27.5 square meters, two to three times the size of traditional market stalls. In such spacious surroundings, operators can not only display high-quality products but also skillfully incorporate numerous elements such as product themes, design concepts, and brand stories.
