The gong body is made of copper and is round in shape. The gong surface is raised, flat without a center or slightly concave, and the gong edge is unique. In addition to being perpendicular to the gong surface, it extends parallel to the gong surface, with a ring of flat gong edge. There are three or four gong holes drilled on the flat gong edge, through which silk threads are passed, arranged according to their pitch and hung in the wooden grids of the gong stand. Traditional Yungong is often composed of ten small gongs. Our ancestors have long arranged small brass gongs with different pitches for musical practice. In the "Carrier's Picture" by Su Hanchen of the Song Dynasty, a carrier is hanging several musical instruments, one of which is a ten-faced Yungong, indicating that Yungong has been spread and used among the folk since the Song Dynasty.
