German-style compass – Overview of some compass functions (for details, please refer to the Chinese user manual)
Target Function
Horizontal orientation compass (compass for direction indication): When the bubble of the level is within the red circle, it indicates that the compass is horizontal. The green arrow on the dial points to the north, and the pointer pointing in the opposite direction indicates true south.
Positioning Function
A horizontal compass (compass needle), ensuring the mirror cover and the mirror body are perpendicular to each other; through the red line inside the lens and the crosshair on the dial, these two points form a straight line. This allows for the positioning of objects, and by reading the scale corresponding to the red line in the lens, the target orientation angle can be determined.
Bias Angle Measurement
After locating the known object, read out its azimuth degrees, then move the compass to read the azimuth of the target object. The difference between the two degrees is the deviation angle.
Map Orientation
Place the compass on any meridian of the map, rotate the outer dial until the black triangular arrow points to the north end of the map, and then rotate both the map and the compass until the green arrow pointing north on the dial aligns with the center of the compass arrow. At this point, the map is calibrated and aligns with the directions of natural geographical features.
Luminous function
The nightlight function refers to the fluorescent powder in a compass, which stores light energy when exposed to natural light or sunlight. After the light exposure stops, it slowly releases the light in a fluorescent manner, allowing visibility for a short period in the night or dark conditions.
Measure slope
Horizontal orientation compass (compass), turn on the slope dial so that the slope dial is perpendicular to the compass base, then release the slope pointer. At this point, the slope pointer will change according to the slope variation. The reading at that moment represents the slope.
Maintenance and Care Instructions
When using and placing the compass (North) needle, avoid getting close to ferromagnetic objects, high-voltage lines, and electromagnetic devices to prevent errors and reduce sensitivity.
2. When not in use, it should be placed in a well-ventilated and dry place to prevent mold growth.
3. When the surface is dirty, gently wipe it with white velvet cloth to maintain a smooth appearance.
