The characteristic of vertical wires is a smaller contraction ratio, so they are used in transmissions to ensure precise shifting. Their cost is twice that of spiral wires—this is why some extremely cheap “tube kits” exist. These low-cost kits use spiral brake tubes for both transmission and brakes to save costs, but this affects the precision of shifting. Please be aware! The two types cannot be used interchangeably; using the transmission tube as a brake tube will not work. Additionally, this kit does not include transmission internal wires.
