The Grip of Colored Pencils
When using colored pencils to draw, it is very important to differentiate strokes for texture. If you always hold the pencil in the same way, it will appear monotonous, so please remember the various strokes of holding the pencil.
1. Basic Grip: The normal pen-holding posture.
2. Hold the pen away from the tip - light strokes
Hold the pencil away from the tip, placing it flat can reduce the pressure and create a lighter stroke, which is useful for beginning to sketch or for tone.
3. Hold the pen farther away from the tip - create a firm line, fill in a small area of the surface
   Hold the pencil close to the tip, with the pencil tilted, ensuring that the pressure reaches the paper fully. This will result in strong lines. If the pencil is held too far away when drawing strong lines, it is easy to break the lead.
   Transforming the grip: Consider the number of fingers holding the pen, you can lightly grip with three fingers or vividly describe with five fingers.
4. Holding the pen with the palm facing up - light and broad strokes
  The most commonly used grip for pencil sketching is a holding technique that allows the pencil to lie completely flat, enabling the drawing of lines with a certain arc. By moving the wrist, one can cover a wide area, making it suitable for drawing on a vertical surface.
5. Holding a pencil with both hands - strong and dramatic lines
   Hold the pencil with your entire palm to make it lie flat, allowing for strong and wide strokes. It's also fun to draw with your entire palm, but it's not suitable for detailed patterns.

Color pencils are classified into various categories:

Usage Method:
1. Hard-core colored pencils and soft-core colored pencils
       The core of colored pencils is made of wax-based adhesive (medium) that is colored with pigment and fixed into the shape of the core. The more medium in the core, the harder the pencil. When using hard colored pencils for drawing, the core can be sharpened to a longer length without breaking; however, soft pencils can break if they are sharpened too long.

       The pen petals of light colors are harder, while those of dark or bright colors are softer, all because of the relationship between the content of the medium in the pen. Try the near-white pink! You can immediately notice that it is much harder than the bright pink pen petals.
3. Other Drawing Materials Besides Color Pencils
      Water-soluble colored pencils can dissolve like watercolors when wet; pastel pencils contain a small amount of medium, resulting in a powdery image. After drawing, you can wipe off the powder with your fingers, but they are best suited for blurring techniques. Focus pencils are in the form of paper rolls, with a slight sticky tip. They can be used to draw on anything, including plastic, glass, wood, stone, etc.

    Compared with watercolor or oil paint, colored pencils are severely limited by the material and the color mixing changes. The shaving method of the lead affects its brushstroke, so choosing a brush is very important. Although a pencil sharpener can shave quickly and well, the lines drawn are too uniform and lack variation. Using a knife to shave, uneven points on the tip can draw flavorful lines. With the change of angles and rotation, it might even draw unexpected lines.
