The common scoring method for darts is as follows: the red heart in the innermost ring of the target is worth 50 points, the next green heart is worth 25 points. Surrounding the green hearts are two large rings separated by iron rings, with scores marked on each grid. Points are calculated based on the marked values; if the dart hits the inner iron ring located between two large rings, the score is calculated as three times the marked value; if it hits the middle iron ring, the score is calculated as twice the marked value. A dart is invalid if it exceeds the outer iron ring.
Therefore, achieving a high score is not about hitting the bullseye; the highest possible score is three times the value of 20 points in the inner ring. Dart scoring methods include 301, 501, 701, 1001, and Mickey Mouse.
The so-called 301 system means that the competition is won by the player who scores exactly 301 points. The score for each dart throw must be clearly displayed in a way that all participants can easily understand. The scoring starts at 301 and decreases step by step until it reaches 0. The last dart must also be thrown within the double zone or the heart circle, and the final score must be exactly 0 to win. No matter whether the last dart results in a positive or negative score, that throw is invalid, and the previous score remains. A new throw will be made next time. Therefore, you must use your brain wisely; without precise calculation and strategic planning, it is difficult to win even if you lead throughout the competition. The 501, 701, and 1001 competition methods are similar. Special competition formats often add drama and randomness, which also enhances the appeal of darts. The Mickey Mouse method is suitable for group activities and is highly competitive, with the goal being to gain an advantage over the opponent to avoid losing points. Specifically, for each target, both sides must hit three darts. If the opponent hits the target first, each missed shot gives them one extra point, until you also hit the target.
