How to Use a Compass: 1. Place the compass flat on a surface. For the turntable-style compass, once the turntable stops spinning, read the words on the dial. The directions indicated by the Chinese characters are east, west, south, and north. For the English version, N is north, S is south, E is east, and W is west. 2. For the pointer-style compass, the red pointer indicates north (N). When placing the compass flat, wait for the pointers to stop spinning, then slowly turn the compass until the N (0 degrees) on the dial is aligned with the direction indicated by the red pointer. Then read the directions indicated by the E (east), W (west), and S (south) on the dial. The correct direction is the one indicated by the N (north), S (south), and E (east). Note: 1. Some Chinese version pointer-style compasses have the red pointer pointing south. When aligning the compass, the red pointer should be aligned with the S (180 degrees), and the directions on the dial will be correct. This is not a mistake with the compass, but it is done according to our traditional Chinese standards. Be sure to remember whether the red pointer on your compass points to the south or north, to avoid going in the wrong direction. 2.When using a compass (North), it is absolutely necessary to avoid any items with iron or magnets that could interfere with the compass's operation; the compass must be laid flat (and more importantly, the needle or dial inside must be level). The three-part vehicle-mounted compass (North) ball is designed to save the driver's effort and time. The compass (North) ball is manufactured with the opposite direction. When the driver is in the cab and sees the words "East" on the top of the compass (North) ball, it means the direction the car is moving is east. The driver should confirm if their own compass (North) ball is manufactured with the reverse direction. 4 When not in use, the compass (North) should be stored away from magnets, iron, and other magnetic items at a constant temperature and away from light.
