The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the great Cien Temple in Jinchang square, Chang'an city, Tang Dynasty (south of Xi'an city, Shaanxi province now), also known as "Cien Temple Tower". Three years (652 years) of Tang Yonghui, Xuanzang built a Big Wild Goose Pagoda to preserve the scroll Buddha statue brought back to Chang'an by Tianzhu through the Silk Road. The first five floors were stamped to the ninth floor, after that, the layers and heights were changed several times. Finally, it was fixed to the seven-story tower body seen today, with a height of 64.517 meters and a side length of 25.5 meters.
As the existing early and large-scale brick tower of the Tang Dynasty, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a typical evidence that the architectural form of the ancient Indian Buddhist temple, such as pagoda, was introduced into the central plains with Buddhism and integrated into Chinese culture, it is a landmark building that embodies the wisdom of the working people in ancient China.
On March 4, 1961, the State Council announced that the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was a group of national key cultural relics protection units [1]. On June 22, 2014, at the 38th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting held in Doha, Qatar, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was the "Silk Road" jointly applied by China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan: A site in the road network of Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor was successfully listed in the world heritage list.
