"HID"通常指的是"Human Interface Device",即人类接口设备。
High intensity Discharge (HID) lamps refer to lamps that are filled with a mixture of inert gases, including xenon, and do not have filaments like halogen lamps.High-pressure gas discharge lampHID (High-Intensity Discharge) headlights, commonly known as xenon lights or metal halide lights, work by creating an electric arc between two electrodes, which then emits light.
Principle: The light emitted from xenon headlights is generated within a UV-cut quartz glass tube filled with various chemical gases, primarily xenon and iodine compounds. This is then amplified by an enhancer (ballast) to convert the vehicle's 12-volt DC voltage to a momentary 23,000-volt surge. This high-voltage shock excites the xenon electrons within the quartz tube, creating a light source between the two electrodes. This is known as gas discharge. The white ultra-bright arc light produced by the xenon is similar to the light of daylight, with a higher color temperature value. The HID system requires only 3.5A of current, making it brighter than traditional headlights.Halogen lampThe life span of LED bulbs is three times that of traditional halogen bulbs, and it is 10 times longer than that of traditional halogen bulbs.
HID advantages
Advantage One: High Energy Saving. Most halogen lights consume 60-70W of power, while HID xenon lights only need 35W. The power consumption is only half of that of halogen car lights, significantly reducing the burden on the vehicle's electrical system. Energy saving is truly fuel-efficient.
Advantage two: Long service life. General halogen headlights have an uncertain factor of tungsten filaments, with a service life of about 200 hours. HID lights work by generating light through high-intensity gas discharge, freeing themselves from the life constraints brought by traditional tungsten filaments. The service life of HID lights is over 3000 hours. For more information on this topic, please refer to the working principles of HID lights and xenon headlights.
Advantage three: High emergency, if a halogen lamp experiences problems such as tungsten filament breakage or high-temperature fracture, the headlight will immediately turn off. However, with HID headlights, if there is a fault, it will not instantly turn off the headlights, but rather will dim gradually, giving the driver more time to take emergency measures in the event of a failure while driving at night.
Advantage four: High brightness. The average flux of a general halogen light is only 1000 lumens, while the flux of a xenon light is 3 times that of a halogen light, reaching 3200 lumens. Therefore, xenon lights have a higher illumination intensity, making it easier for drivers to drive at night without fatigue and more effectively improving the driving vision range in front.
Advantage 5: High waterproof, dustproof, and heat resistance, with a durability of over 100,000 times of normal temperature ignition (5S on/off) without failure; can withstand high temperature of 80°C for 24 hours without failure; can withstand immersion in water for 24 hours without failure.
Advantage 6: High compatibility, the current production of HIDs have different compatible models for different vehicle models. Please refer to the HID lamp model and vehicle model comparison table.
