Basic Working Principle:

When a vehicle system fails, the MIL (Mileage-Based Engine Light) or Check Engine Light turns on, and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) stores the fault information in the memory. The fault code is read from the PCM through the equipment, and the nature and location of the fault can be quickly and accurately determined based on the fault code.
