II. Benefits of calibration powder: The calibration powder has a shelf life of 5 years, while the calibration solution, even without opening, will develop moss after just one month. Additionally, the standard requires mixing 250 ml of distilled water (available in supermarkets) for calibration, but the calibration solution bottle only holds about 20 ml, which does not meet the requirement. Moreover, when placing the pen inside the bottle for calibration, the mouth of the bottle is too small to fit it properly. Opened calibration solution becomes ineffective after only 15 days, so we do not recommend using the prepared bottled calibration solution.

No pH pen that requires no calibration exists, but the calibration is very simple.

The pH meter must be recalibrated under the following conditions:
① It has been used (or placed) for a long time after calibration;
② The electrodes are used extremely frequently;
③ The measurement accuracy requirements are quite high.

④There's no need to calibrate the new pen once you buy it.

Calibration of the pH meter:
1. Dissolve the calibration powder in 250 ml distilled water or pure water. Immerse the pH electrode in the mixed phosphate standard buffer solution with a pH value of 6.86, and shake gently.
2. Use a yellow screwdriver to adjust the potentiometer by rotating it left and right against the circular hole behind the pH meter, until the displayed value matches the pH value of 6.9 for the standard buffer solution at ambient temperature.
3. Same as above, insert the electrode into a pH 4.00 potassium hydrogen phosphite standard buffer solution.
4. After about two minutes, the displayed value should be within the allowable error range compared to the pH value of the buffer solution.
The potion must not get dirty. Seal it with plastic wrap after calibration. It can be reused. After calibration, wash it thoroughly with pure water. If not used frequently, calibrate it once every 2–3 months!

How to maintain the pH pen:

If not used for a long time, you can soak the pH pen electrode in pure water for about half a month, then insert it into a disposable cup!

Operation Steps:

1. Remove the protective cover.
2. Turn on the switch located on the battery compartment.
3. Insert the pH meter into the tested liquid until it is submerged at the “submersion line”; if possible, the solution should be placed slightly above the “submersion line”.
4. Gently stir the solution and wait for about two minutes. Then read the displayed value.
5. After use, clean the electrodes, turn off the switch, and put on the protective cover.
