Biodegradable straws are produced using high purity poly-lactic acid (PLA) as the raw material, which is made from renewable resources such as corn, potato, and agricultural waste through fermentation and further purification of the polymer. The raw material for PLA straws is agricultural products, which are produced through modern biological fermentation technology. When incinerated, they do not release toxic gases such as nitrogen oxides or sulfur dioxide. Under composting conditions, PLA straws can degrade into carbon dioxide and water within six months through microbial action.
