Interpretation of Electronic Fan Principle and Analysis of Electronic Fan Faults

Frequent damage to the electronic fan, some friends have even replaced more than 3, why. After several days of research, I feel some gains, I dedicate to everyone, welcome to correct.

1. Several concepts that need attention

1. The electronic fan only works to reduce the temperature of the radiator. 2. The temperature of the radiator is affected by two aspects: one is the cooling of the engine block and transmission, and the other is the heat dissipation of the air conditioner condenser.

3. The air conditioner condenser and the radiator are two components that are closely located next to each other, with the condenser in front and the radiator behind.

4. The air conditioning system in the car is relatively independent. However, the start of the air conditioning switch will send a signal to the electronic fan control unit J293, forcing the electronic fan to rotate.

5. The large fan is the main fan, and the small fan is the auxiliary fan.

6. The signal from the thermistor switch is transmitted to the electronic fan control unit J293, which controls the electronic fan to start at different speeds.

7. The implementation of high-speed and low-speed is very simple. High-speed does not use a series resistance, while low-speed uses two series resistances (the same principle is used to regulate the size of the air flow from the air conditioner).

Finally, I have some bad news to share with you all. My main fan is no longer working.

Let's take a look at these two resistors. Is the electronic fan really that easy to break? No, it's not. Our household fans have been used for many years. It's just a motor driving a few blades.

So, I conclude that,

1. If both fans do not turn on when the temperature rises, but they both spin wildly when the temperature is high, then replace the F18 immediately.

2. If the temperature rises and only one fan starts while the other does not, in general, the larger fan is the one that doesn't work. The approach taken by 4S is to replace the fan. I believe it is likely that a single resistor is faulty (inside the fan body). There's no need to go to 4S; find a technician who repairs electric fans.

These are the two resistors.

Let's take a look at the principles from the circuit.

II. The control principle of the fan, let me explain again:

1. The high-speed and low-speed settings of the electronic fan are controlled by the thermistor switch (F18). This switch has two settings and is installed on the radiator to detect the water temperature. It sends two signal levels to J293, and J293 then conducts different open circuits to control the high-speed and low-speed settings of the electronic fan.

2. Turn on the air conditioner, and both fans should spin. However, it should be noted that the air conditioner and the electronic fan are two relatively independent systems, controlled by two separate computers, named J301 (for the air conditioner) and J293 (for the electronic fan). J301 merely sends a signal to J293 to force the two electronic fans to start. Apart from that, there is not much connection between them.

3. However, turning on the air conditioner will certainly cause the water temperature to rise rapidly, which is the best way to check for a fault in the electronic fan. If neither of them spins,

（1）Check the thermistor switch; this is most likely to be faulty.

（2）Two fan internal resistances

If there is only one fan, and the other is normal, the problem could be with the faulty fan or internal resistance, or the fan itself might be damaged (this is still a relatively unlikely scenario).
