Those who understand copper materials should know that copper products will spontaneously oxidize over time, gradually settling into a unique vintage color and texture. This is the charm of copper itself.
■ The natural oxidation of brass is inevitable, but it actually adds to its charm and does not require special maintenance. However, if you prefer to keep it shiny, besides purchasing professional brass care liquid, you can also use the following simple daily maintenance methods:
1. Soap or mild detergent: If it's just covered in dust or very dirty, but not darkened, immerse it in warm soapy water and you can clean it with a soft cloth. For particularly dirty areas, you can gently brush it with a toothbrush.
2. Vinegar, salt, and flour: These versatile kitchen essentials can be used to create a paste to clean tarnished brass. Mix one teaspoon of salt into half a cup of vinegar until dissolved, then add flour until the mixture forms a paste. Apply the paste to the brass, let it sit for 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water and dry.
3. Water: Heat a small amount of water, add 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and you can make another natural preparation to polish brass. Apply this preparation to the brass, and then wipe it dry with a clean cloth.
