Customers should note the following points when using ferrite magnets

 

Ferroferric magnetic materials are heavy and brittle; handle them gently (especially for large sizes or thin sheets). Be careful when operating them, as they may attract or separate from other iron objects. Avoid impact, as this can cause damage to the magnet or injury to fingers. Since ferroferric permanent magnets are multi-metal alloy materials with ceramic manufacturing processes and possess heavy, brittle properties, extra care is required during handling to prevent breakage, shattering, or falling apart. If the magnets cannot be separated due to attraction, it is recommended to push them apart horizontally; do not force or pry them.

For example, D10X3MM indicates a magnet with a diameter of 10 millimeters and a thickness of 3 millimeters. X is the mathematical symbol for “multiplication”.

Neodymium-iron-boron magnets: Neodymium-iron-boron is the magnet with the highest commercial performance known so far. It is referred to as the "magnetic king" and possesses extremely high magnetic properties, with a maximum magnetic energy product (BHmax) more than 10 times that of ferrite. Therefore, it is also commonly called strong magnets or magnetic steel. Its mechanical processing properties are also quite good. The operating temperature can reach up to 200 degrees Celsius. Moreover, it has a hard texture, stable performance, and excellent cost-performance ratio, which explains its wide range of applications. However, due to its strong chemical reactivity, surface treatment is necessary.

NdFeB permanent magnet materials are based on the intermetallic compound Nd2Fe1₄B. Compared to cast Al-Ni-Co series permanent magnet materials and ferrites, NdFeB possesses extremely high magnetic energy product and coercivity, capable of attracting objects weighing 640 times their own weight. The advantage of its high energy density has enabled NdFeB permanent magnet materials to be widely used in modern industry and electronic technology, making it possible to miniaturize, lightweight, and thinen devices such as instruments, electromechanical motors, and magnetic separation and magnetization systems. A key advantage of NdFeB is its high performance-to-cost ratio and excellent mechanical properties, which make it easy to machine; however, its disadvantage lies in a low Curie temperature point, poor thermal characteristics, and susceptibility to powdering and corrosion. These issues must be addressed by adjusting its chemical composition and applying surface treatment methods to meet practical application requirements.
The neodymium-iron-boron manufacturing process uses powder metallurgy technology. Raw materials such as neodymium, dysprosium, iron, cobalt, niobium, praseodymium, aluminum, copper, and boron-iron are smelted into alloy steel ingots using an intermediate-frequency induction melting furnace. These ingots are then crushed into powder with a particle size of 3–5 μm, pressed into shape under a magnetic field. The formed green mass is sintered densely and aged in a vacuum sintering furnace, resulting in a permanent magnet blank with specific magnetic properties. After processing steps including grinding, drilling, and slicing, and followed by surface treatment, the final neodymium-iron-boron product required by the customer is obtained.
