Qingzhou celadon originated in the Southern Dynasties, flourished during the Northern Song Dynasty, and reached its peak in the Southern Song Dynasty. The ancient Qingzhou famous kilns were one of the five major famous kilns of the Song Dynasty—Guan, Ge, Ru, Ding, and Jun. With a long history, they are renowned both domestically and internationally. Celadon is known worldwide for its fine porcelain texture, clear and smooth lines, dignified and simple shapes, and pure yet colorful colors.
There are two types of Longquan celadon products: one is white body and cinnabar body celadon, known as the "Di Kiln" or "Longquan Kiln"; the other is black body celadon with glaze crackling, called the "Ge Kiln". The Di Kiln celadon has a rich glaze layer, a vivid greenish-blue color, a soft luster, and a crystal-like smoothness—comparable to jade. The Ge Kiln celadon features magnificent and ancient-looking crackling patterns as decorations, earning it the nickname “purple mouth, iron feet”. Together with the glaze crackling, it exhibits an ancient, elegant appearance, making it truly a treasure among ceramics.
