1. Before taking off, one must first determine the direction of the wind. The operator stands into the wind, while the kite flies with the wind. If the position is confused, no matter how hard you try, the kite will not be able to take off.
2. For beginners, it is recommended to keep the kite and the string about 10 to 20 to 30 meters apart to make it easier to launch the kite. Beginners should choose a flat, open space.
3. Wait for the right moment: wait for a strong wind to rise and set sail, if the wind is not strong, one must be patient and wait, otherwise, sometimes one may inevitably suffer defeat.
4. Running and letting out the line: Those with experience in flying kites usually do not need help and can do it on their own. Beginners are better off with someone holding the kite high and letting out the line between ten to twenty to thirty meters, waiting for a gust of wind, quickly raising the kite partner to release the kite (without throwing it up), and the kite flier should run while watching the kite take off and adjust the control, running slowly to allow the kite to slowly rise.

Manipulation

1. Once the kite is slightly airborne, if the field is wide enough, one can run while letting out the string until the kite reaches a considerable height without showing any tendency to fall. Only then does the take-off process succeed. However, in strong wind conditions, the kite can be flown without the need for running, as it can take to the air on its own.
2. Master the line-throwing or line-retracting machine – when the wind is not sufficient, one must frequently and quickly pull the line back with force, adding wind to the hand. If the kite line feels slightly heavy, one should seize the opportunity to let out the line; if it feels lighter, one should stop letting out the line. If the kite shows a tendency to descend, one may sometimes need to quickly retract some of the kite line until the kite can hold up in the sky without falling, only then does the take-off work count as successfully completed.
3. If the kite structure is good and the tension and wind force are in balance, the kite will remain motionless in the air as stable as Mount Tai. At this time, tying the kite line to a tree trunk or a stationary heavy object can allow it to freely float. However, in the case of unstable wind direction and force, it is necessary to manipulate it randomly.

Reclaim the kite

1. Retrieving a kite is relatively easy, as long as one avoids pulling the string too quickly. This is because as the kite is being reeled in, the angle between the kite string and the ground increases. If the retrieving is too rapid, the kite may plunge forward and fall, posing a risk of a crash.
2. Secondly, when retrieving the line, try to move away from the trees as much as possible to avoid the kite from getting caught on the tip of the tree branches when it falls.
