The Yongjiang knife and scissor heritage spans over a millennium. In the late 1970s, as the reform and opening-up policy was introduced, the Lin family, who have always been fond of researching knife and scissor making, believed that change was a constant. Due to the traditional knife and scissor making process being hand-forged, the quality of the steel varied, leading to easy rusting and poor durability. To address this fundamental issue, the idea of combining traditional Chinese techniques with German knife and scissor manufacturing processes was born. Over a decade of dedicated research, the two generations finally named the process as Lintai Zuo in early 1996.
