Music box
In 1796, the Swiss Antoine Fabre developed a cylinder-type music box, which is one of the oldest music boxes in the world. It is reported that this ancient music box is housed in the "Kyoto Arashiyama Music Box Museum" in Japan and is only on display in Shanghai for one year. The music box, which was born in 1796, is so small, only about 10 centimeters in height. It was invented and made by the clockmaker Antoine Fabre, which is actually a very practical and luxurious pure gold seal. It is just an eight-tone music box hidden in its bottom. When people turn the ring at the top of the seal to wind it, the switch on the stand begins to play music. The invention of Antoine Fabre is to use the "cylinder device and tuned metal comb teeth to play music by plucking metal sheets."
The principle is that the power drives the sound tube with small protrusions to rotate uniformly. When the protrusions pass the sound board, they will pluck the spring (first slowly raised, then suddenly dropped) to make the spring vibrate at a set vibration frequency to produce a set sound. The sound board part of the music box is made of thin and thick, but uniformly cut, thin strips on an elastic steel plate (thickness and thickness are not equal according to the set vibration frequency). One protrusion on the sound tube is equivalent to a note on a musical score. A sound tube with a regular set of protrusions rotates, and the protrusions pass the edge of the sound board. Due to the different protrusions, the sound is different, plus the role of damping, makes the sound tube rotate uniformly, and generally in the 8-17 seconds for a week, which is enough to express the climax of a piece of music; of course, the high-end music box usually cycles between 30 seconds and 8 minutes.
