Volcanic eruption is a unique geological phenomenon, a manifestation of crustal movement, and the most intense display of thermal energy within the Earth's interior on the surface. It is the release of magma and other ejecta from the volcano's crater onto the surface in a short period of time. Due to the high amount of volatile components in magma, combined with the confining pressure of the overlying rock layers, these volatiles remain dissolved in the magma and cannot escape. When the magma rises near the surface, the pressure decreases, causing the volatiles to be rapidly released, thereby resulting in a volcanic eruption.
Be cautious during volcanic eruptions
During the incubation phase of a volcanic eruption, due to gas dissolution and seismic activity, the degree of fracture in the overlying rocks increases, pressure decreases, and the amount of gas dissolution within the magma continues to rise. The magma volume gradually expands, density decreases, and internal pressure increases. When the internal pressure significantly exceeds external pressure, a violent explosion occurs in the fracture zones of the overlying rocks, causing the rocks to break apart and opening up a pathway for the volcanic eruption. First, the fragments are ejected, followed by the eruption of magma.
