Place a few drops of the test solution on the detection prism, gently close the lid to avoid air bubbles, and spread the solution evenly across the prism surface. Aim the instrument's light-entry plate (3) at the light source or a bright area, look through the eyepiece to observe the viewfield, and turn the eyepiece adjustment knob (6) to make the blue-white boundary in the viewfield clear. The scale value of the boundary indicates the concentration of the solution.

The adjustment range of the 6th dioptre adjustment knob and the 7th ocular lens is within 2 cm vertically, so the component's disengagement is caused by operating beyond the 2 cm range, which does not fall under quality issues but is an operational error.
