802.11n operates in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, while 802.11ac will only operate in the 5GHz band, with a maximum wireless transmission rate of up to 1.3Gbps. Although the 5GHz band will be weaker for wall penetration, on the other hand, the interference received will significantly decrease. Many home wireless devices, such as cordless phones, microwaves, and wireless cameras, operate in the 2.4GHz band.
Channel is wider
802.11n primarily relies on 40MHz channels for data transmission, while 802.11ac defaults to 80MHz channels. With certain technical upgrades, it can even be upgraded to 160MHz channels. Compared to 802.11n, the new WiFi standard will be able to achieve a transmission speed of 433Mbps on a single channel.

802.11ac provides double the spatial streams compared to 802.11n, with 802.11ac capable of using 8 spatial streams. Each spatial stream can achieve a speed of up to 433Mbps.

Although beamforming technology is also supported by 802.11n, very few devices use it. However, in 802.11ac, a large number of devices will use this technology.
Compatibility is strong
We know that although 802.11n standard wireless routers have been popular for many years, there are still many wireless devices that only support 802.11b or 802.11g protocols. The same applies to 802.11ac. If we transition to 802.11ac, there will still be many devices using 802.11n or older standards. Therefore, 802.11ac will fully backward compatible with all older standards.
