What is a urine analysis test strip?
Urine analysis is best performed on a full bladder as the first thing in the morning. Urine analysis checks the appearance, concentration, and content of urine to detect and/or manage various drugs, such as urinary tract infections (UTI), kidney diseases, and diabetes. A urine test strip, which is usually a thin plastic rod with chemical lines, is dipped into the urine. If the chemical lines change color or if certain levels are above or below normal, it indicates the presence of compounds such as protein, ketones, hemoglobin, and nitrites, as well as harmful pathogens. Urine testing with a dropper is convenient, but false-positive and false-negative results may occur.
