The key to using boxing mouthguards is to shape them correctly to fit the teeth, ensuring both protection and comfort. Here are the specific steps:
1. Dental protection and shaping (key steps)
Prepare a cup of hot water at 50-60°C (feel hot but not boiling), immerse the toothbrush for 15-20 seconds to soften it (do not boil, to avoid damage to the material).
After removing it, quickly rinse the tooth-protecting surface with cold water (to prevent burning the mouth), and then immediately put it into your mouth.
Bite firmly with your teeth, and use your tongue to press against the inside of the dental protector, simultaneously pressing the corresponding area of the cheek outside the dental protector with your fingers, and maintain this for 10-15 seconds to ensure that the dental protector fits the contours of your teeth and gums.
Take out the dental protector and immerse it in cold water for 30 seconds to complete the shaping. If the fit is not good, you can repeat the above steps to reshape.
2. Wearing and Inspection
After setting, insert the dental protector into your mouth, ensuring that the upper and lower teeth can naturally fit together. The dental protector should cover all teeth (especially the front teeth), with no obvious looseness or pressure pain.
Wearing the mouthguard, ensure that the recessed groove on the inside aligns with the teeth, covering the gingival edges to prevent displacement.
3. Cleaning and Maintenance
Before and after use, rinse thoroughly with clean water to avoid the growth of bacteria from residual saliva.
• Store in a well-ventilated and dry box when not in use for a long time, avoid direct sunlight or contact with sharp objects to prevent deformation or damage.
