Sponges are porous materials with excellent absorbency, which can be used for cleaning. The common sponges are made from wood cellulose fibers or foam plastic polymers. In addition, there are natural sponges made from sponge animals, most of which are used for body cleaning or painting. There are also three types of synthetic sponges made from other materials, namely low-density polyethylene (non-absorbent sponge), polyvinyl alcohol (highly absorbent material with no obvious pores), and polyesters.
