How to distinguish between good and bad towels

First Visual Inspection:The towel is finely sewn, with neat hemming, uniform width, straight and level edges, neither tilted nor twisted, consistent tightness, even pile height, and upright tufting; when held by hand, it presents a flat appearance with smooth tufting, and it is preferable when minimal cotton fluff spills out. A pure and bright color with no uneven shades is ideal.

Second Touch:The good pure cotton towel has a fluffy texture, soft and without a slippery feel. It feels soft and elastic in the hand, and no cotton fluff falls off when being rubbed.

Third Smell:The towels are free of any odor. If there is a candle smell or ammonia scent, it indicates an excess of softener; if there is an acidic taste, the pH value may be excessive; if there is a pungent smell, it suggests the use of a formaldehyde-containing color fixative, resulting in the release of free formaldehyde.

Fourth moisture absorption test:When hanging a towel, if water droplets do not roll off after being applied to it, it indicates rapid absorption and diffusion, and good moisture absorption properties; if the droplets roll off, it suggests an excess of softener or insufficient refining in the towel.

第五 color fastness test:Pour hot water around 80 degrees Celsius into the basin first, then add the towel for washing. It is good if the water in the basin shows no color; if there is any color, it indicates poor dyeing quality, which may be harmful to health. In the words of Mr. Yang Donghui, president of the China Home Textiles Association, such a towel is “washing the face with industrial wastewater”.
