These refer to conditions caused by abnormal lipid metabolism, where lipids in the blood accumulate on the normally smooth arterial intima. White plaques formed by lipid substances similar to gruel accumulate on the arterial intima and are known as arterial gruel-like hardening lesions. As these plaques increase over time, they cause arterial stenosis, obstructing blood flow, leading to cardiac ischemia and causing angina pectoris.
