1. When visiting a temple to worship Buddha, there is no need to stand in the middle; merely showing reverence and worship is sufficient. It should be understood that Buddha possesses three kinds of wisdom, six states of consciousness, ten powers, four assurances, and eighteen unique teachings. As long as sentient beings have thoughts or intentions, Buddha knows everything. As long as it comes from a sincere and respectful heart, any position is a suitable place.
II. No matter how many Buddhas are enshrined in the Buddha hall, generally three prostrations are sufficient when entering to worship. For individual practice, it is up to personal preference; if the congregation is already gathered, one may stand with them, clasping hands and greeting each other. Individual worship should be avoided as it may disrupt the order of the group and lack dignity.
III. When praying to Buddha, one should pray slowly and then stand up slowly as well. Each action follows immediately after the previous one, in a very clear and natural manner. The movements should be slower, more relaxed, and more gentle. Experience each prayer movement and the feeling associated with them in a calm and leisurely way. Do not make the prayer actions rushed or tense. Otherwise, if done too quickly, it will lead to confusion, haste, urgency, and disorder, thereby losing the sense of tranquility and stability.
IV. When praying to Buddha, do not move the positions of your feet, so as not to step on sea green plants. The buttocks should be placed on the feet without lifting them; only in this way does it conform to etiquette. If the movements are neither too slow nor too fast, filled with reverence and showing respect, then the connection with the Tao can be achieved.
5. Whenever someone is praying to Buddha, no one shall walk past them.
6. If there are monks performing worship, do not walk side by side with the master; instead, stand behind the master.
7. When praying to Buddha, one must appear respectful, but actually harbor self-praise or seek fame through spiritual practice, feigning dignity. If the prayer is merely a gesture without sincerity or a sense of humility, it is like chopping garlic—it has little effect on personal growth.
