Subclavian catheters are designed for catheterization of the subclavian veins; they are used for infusion and transfusion therapy to introduce large amounts of blood, blood products, and other fluids for an extended period in hospitals and clinics.
A catheter is a tube with a fitting. The end of the catheter is designed to fit into the Luer cone, which enables connection to catheters, syringes, blood transfusions, blood substitutes, and infusion solutions. It is equipped with a guide catheter of appropriate size and rubber stoppers. The fitting has holes for securing the catheter to the patient’s body. Subclavian catheters are available in three sizes: internal diameter of 0.6 mm, 1.0 mm, and 1.4 mm. The product comes in tightly sealed individual packaging to maintain its functional and medical properties throughout the retention period.
