Guide (North) needle usage method:
1. Place the compass flat (north). When the compass is in a turntable style, just stop the turntable and look at the words on the dial. The directions of the Chinese version are east, west, south, and north. The English version has N for north, S for south, E for east, and W for west.
2. The red needle of the compass is for north (N), and when you place the compass flat, you need to wait for the needle to stop rotating, then slowly turn the compass, so that the N (i.e., 0 degrees) on the dial is aligned with the direction indicated by the red needle. Then read the directions of east (E); west (W); south (S); north (N) on the dial to get the correct direction.
Note: 1. Some Chinese version pointer-style compass with a red needle pointing to the South. When aligning the compass, the red needle should be aligned with the South S (i.e., 180 degrees). This way, the direction on the dial will be correct. This is not because the compass (North) is wrong, but it is done according to our traditional Chinese standards. Make sure to remember whether the red needle on your personal compass points to the South or the North, to avoid going in the wrong direction when using it.
2. When using a compass, there must not be any iron, magnets, or other items that can interfere with the compass; the compass must be leveled (more importantly, the needle or dial inside must be leveled).
3. Part of the vehicle's compass (North) is designed to save drivers' effort and time. The compass (North) is manufactured in the opposite direction. When drivers are in the cab, they see the words 'East' on the top of the compass (North). This means that the direction the vehicle is moving is east. To use the compass (North) for themselves, drivers need to confirm whether it is manufactured in the reverse direction.
4. When the compass (North) is not in use, it should be stored away from magnets, iron, and other magnetic items at a constant temperature and away from light.
