The official claim is that the computing power of the PS4 console is about ten times that of the PS3, leading to further improvements in game graphics.
PS4 Appearance (3 pictures)
Increase the resolution to 1080P and the FPS (Frames Per Second) can reach up to 60. Compared to PS3, PS4 adds many features, such as cross-game voice chat, transforming into a network composed of real friends, and streaming live gameplay through Ustream and Twitch. It is said that more PS4 functions will be introduced gradually. During the development of the console, to avoid the situation where the pursuit of performance makes it more difficult to create game software, Sony abandoned the original design of PlayStation 3 and chose the same X86 architecture as personal computers, making game development easier; however, the disadvantage is that it is not compatible with PS3, PS2, or PS1 games.
Processor
PlayStation®4 uses an APU processor developed in collaboration with AMD, which integrates a CPU, GPU, and audio card.
Its eight-core CPU is composed of two 1.6GHz quad-core CPUs.
The GPU is composed of 72 16-bit floating-point computation units (18 groups, each with 4 units), with a floating-point computation capability of 1.84 TFLOPS.
PlayStation 4 is equipped with 8 GB of GDDR5 shared memory, which changes the disadvantage of small memory in previous game consoles.
The main frequency of GDDR5 memory is 1.4 G (equivalent to 5.6G), and its speed (bandwidth) is 176 GB/s.
